Rihanna, who was born in Saint Michael and grew up in Bridgetown, Barbados became an audition for Evan Rogers, an American record producer. He invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. After joining Def Jam in 2005, she gained not long after the release of her debut two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006) Both of them were influenced by Caribbean music and reached the top ten on the US Billboard 200 chart.
